Workshop Description

Participants MUST get MCNP® from RSICC prior to the class.  Email proof by following the steps in this .pdf file.  You must email this proof to Randy Schwarz with your registration.

The Visual Editor is a Graphical User Interface for MCNP®.  The Visual Editor is provided at no cost, but participants must get the MCNP® package from RSICC.

All participants must have a valid copy of the MCNP® code obtained from RSICC because the Visual Editor will not run without the MCNP® cross sections contained in this package and both MCNP® and the Visual Editor are export controlled.  For more information on obtaining MCNP® and the Visual Editor, Click Here.

This workshop will be taught using the most recent versions of MCNP® and the Visual Editor Code.

The workshop combines teaching on MCNP® physics, along with instructions on how to use the Visual Editor. Computer demonstrations and exercises will focus on creating and interrogating input files with the Visual Editor. Demonstrations of advanced visualization work using MCNP® will also be made. Participants are encouraged to bring their own input files for viewing and modifying in the visual editor.  Participants must bring their own laptop with a valid copy of MCNP® installed.   For a more detailed course description, click here.

Lodging and Facilities

This course will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Dan Beninson Nuclear Technology Institute.

The facility is located in Centro Atomico Ezeiza (CAE), which is in the outskirts of the city.  There is no easy way to get there with public transportation. However, there are shuttles provided by CAE (no cost for the traveler) that spreads out over the city and its surroundings.  They go to CAE in the morning and go back in the afternoon.  This service is routinely used by employees and visitors (such as IAEA courses participants, etc).  In the CAE webpage you can find a list of them.  Since spaces in the shuttles are limited we will need to confirm the people using them when the workshop date is closer.

Hotel locations can be chosen to be close to the shuttle stops.  By car, CAE is very accessible from downtown through the highway Au. 25 de Mayo. There is also a hotel with a very convenient location, Holiday Inn Buenos Aires Ezeiza Airport.
