Course Description

Participants MUST get MCNP/MCNPX from RSICC prior to the class.  Email proof by following the steps in this .pdf file.  You must email this proof to Randy Schwarz with your registration.

The Visual Editor is a Graphical User Interface for MCNPX.  The Visual Editor is provided at no cost, but participants must get the MCNP5/MCNPX package (CCC-740) from RSICC.

All students must have a valid copy of the MCNP5/MCNPX code obtained from RSICC because the Visual Editor will not run without the MCNP5/MCNPX cross sections contained in this package and both MCNP5/MCNPX and the Visual Editor are export controlled.  For more information on obtaining MCNP/MCNPX and the Visual Editor, Click Here.

This class will be taught using the most recent (beta) version of the Visual Editor Code.

The class assumes the user has experience using MCNP or MCNPX and focuses on Visual Editor topics.    The class will focus on advanced topics in tallies, physics, and variance reduction.  Friday afternoon will be reserved for the instructor to provide consulting on topics/problems requested by the participants.  Attendees are encouraged to bring their own input files for viewing and modifying and problem solving in the Visual Editor.  To view or print a tri-fold brochure about the content of this class, click here.

Computers are provided with one student per computer.  Attendees are also welcome to bring their own laptop and take the class on their own system.
