Workshop Description
Participants MUST get MCNP/MCNPX from RSICC prior to the class. Currently, RSICC has waived the cost-recovery fee and you can get it at no cost. Bring proof of ownership to the workshop.
This workshop will be taught using the latest version of MCNP/MCNPX.
The class will be taught with an experienced MCNPX team member. This will provide a unique learning experience for those looking for a deeper understanding of the MCNPX code.
These workshops go at a much faster pace and cover more material in greater depth than the MCNP/X introductory workshops. The small workshop size enables a variable format that focuses on topics of interest to the individual participants and on participant's specific Monte Carlo problems.
Topics included are:
-
Variance reduction - how to speed up and converge your problems better than ever;
-
Mistakes even the most experienced MCNP/X users make 10% of the time.
-
Latest code capabilities - tally tagging, pulse height anti-coincidence detectors, delayed gammas, spontaneous photons from radioactive sources, and more.
The latest MCNPX version (2.7.0) distributed by RSICC is used in this workshop. Features include:
-
ACT card for controlling activation
-
Cyclic time-bin option
-
Photofission multiplicity option
-
Pulsed source options
-
Delayed-particle production
-
Tally tagging
-
Tally plot upgrades
-
LET tally
-
Focused beam sources
-
PTRAC coincidence option
-
MCPLOT arithmetic commands
-
LLNL photofission multiplicity option
-
Receiver-operator characterization (ROC) tally option
-
Pulse-height light tally: triple and quadruple coincidences
-
Time-dependent F8 tallies using the pulse-height light option
The class will be taught using the standard MCNPX graphics package.
